NEW WAY OF TREATING ORAL LICHEN PLANUS USING ERBIUM LASER AND LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY WITH DIODE LASER
Laser therapy is a recent evolution in dental treatments, specifically regarding mucocutaneous lesions such as Oral lichen planus.
Oral Lichen Planus is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. Erosive/ ulcerative oral lichen planus is often a painful condition that tends to become malignant, urging appropriate therapy. Treating red oral lichen planus (OLP) is still a problem, and several empirical treatments have been used including corticosteroids as well as surgery and photo-chemotherapy. But remissions and side effects have been observed with these treatment modalities. In contrast to other management methods, Laser therapy has recently been suggested as a new treatment option without any significant side effects. Therefore, Laser Therapy is an effective treatment for treating oral lichen planus and it may be considered as an alternative approach.
